Here's what's happening at LEMS this week!

After continued monitoring of today’s weather conditions, USD 421 will implement an early release at 12:30 PM today, April 17, 2026.
This decision has been made to ensure students and staff are able to return home safely ahead of the anticipated severe weather this afternoon.
Please note the following:
Dismissal Time: All students will be dismissed at 12:30 PM.
Transportation: Buses will run normal routes at that time. Parents at pick up points may need to be in contact with bus drivers.
After-School Activities: Again, all after-school activities and events are canceled for today.
We encourage all families to make any necessary arrangements for student pickup or supervision this afternoon at this time.
The safety of our students and staff remains our top priority. We appreciate your flexibility and cooperation.
Sincerely,
Kim Woolf
Superintendent of Schools
Dear USD 421 Families,
We are closely monitoring the weather forecast for today, April 17, 2026. Current reports indicate the potential for severe weather reaching our area between 3:00 PM and 4:00 PM.
Since this window aligns with our standard dismissal time, we want to ensure everyone is prepared. Please take note of the following:
Continuous Monitoring: We are in constant communication with local weather officials and will provide updates if conditions change.
Early Pickup: If you feel more comfortable picking up your student early due to weather concerns, you are welcome to do so. Please follow your school’s standard check-out procedures.
Potential Early Release: If necessary, we may call for an early release to ensure students and staff are home safely before the weather worsens. A decision will be made by 9:30 AM.
Have a “Plan B”: We encourage all families to have a contingency plan in place this afternoon in the event of an unscheduled early dismissal.
The safety of our students and staff is our top priority. We will notify you through our standard communication channels (USD 421 app, text, email, and social media) if any changes to the school schedule occur. This includes all after-school activities.
Thank you for your cooperation and for helping keep our school community safe.
Sincerely,
Kim Woolf
Superintendent of Schools
