If your family qualified for the free and reduced-priced meals program during the 2023-24 school year, your family was also eligible for Summer EBT (Electronic Benefit Transfer) benefits this year based on your participation in the free and reduced-priced meals program. This program provides $120 in grocery assistance during the summer months when school meals are not available for income-eligible students to receive free and reduced-priced meals at school.
To receive these benefits, you must complete an application
(https://www.dcfapp.kees.ks.gov/apspssp/sspNonMed.portal) through the Department for Children and Families. Act soon, because the application deadline ends on September 11th! You will be asked to provide your name, your child’s name, school, date of birth, and address. You will also be asked to report your household’s income. To apply, you do not need to provide any other documents or information, including your social security number or proof of citizenship. You will need to create an account with DCF before you can apply. Benefits will be distributed within 15 days of an application being submitted.
More information can be found through DCF’s Summer EBT fact sheet, found here.
*While many families received this benefit through auto-issuance, if you believe your children qualify but have not received this benefit, please apply by September 11th.
